Pristine Radiance — Laser Hair Reduction Clinic, Thane West
Pristine Radiance is a clinic in Thane West dedicated to a single procedure: laser hair reduction. Consultations, skin phototype assessment, parameter selection and every session are carried out under the supervision of Dr. Prratyush More, dermatologist. Treatments are performed on the Alma Soprano Titanium Special Edition (Alma Lasers, Israel) and the Candela GentleMax Pro (Candela Corporation, USA), with the machine and settings chosen to suit your skin phototype, hair type and the area being treated.
Alma Soprano Titanium Special Edition
Triple-wavelength diode laser hair reduction, delivered with an in-motion, contact-cooled technique.
Candela GentleMax Pro
Dual-wavelength (755nm Alexandrite + 1064nm Nd:YAG) laser hair reduction with cryogen-based cooling.
How Laser Hair Reduction Works
Hair grows in three phases — anagen (active growth), catagen (transition) and telogen (resting). Laser energy affects follicles only in the anagen phase, and only a proportion of hairs in any area are in that phase at a given time. This is why a single session cannot treat all hairs, and why sessions are spaced to catch successive follicles as they become active.
The Course
A typical course is 6–8 sessions, generally at 4–6 week intervals for the face and 6–8 week intervals for the body, adjusted by site and individual response. Periodic maintenance sessions are usually required afterward.
What to Expect Across a Course
Hair typically becomes progressively finer, lighter and sparser, and regrowth slows. Hair treated in an early session sheds over one to three weeks afterward — this is expected and is not regrowth. The procedure produces a reduction in hair, not complete permanent removal; follicles that were dormant can be activated later by hormonal change.
Equipment in Use
Two systems are in clinical use at Pristine Radiance. Wavelength, device and parameters are selected per patient and per body area by Dr. Prratyush More, and the two systems are used in combination where appropriate — no single wavelength or delivery method suits every combination of skin phototype, hair colour, hair thickness and treatment area.
Alma Soprano Titanium Special Edition
Alma Lasers, Israel
- Emits 755nm Alexandrite, 810nm Diode and 1064nm Nd:YAG simultaneously through a single applicator, targeting follicular structures at differing depths within one pass.
- Uses contact cooling with an in-motion, gradual-heating technique, where the applicator moves continuously across the area as tissue is brought to therapeutic temperature progressively, rather than single high-fluence pulses.
- Suitable across a broad range of skin phototypes, including darker and recently tanned skin, subject to clinical assessment.
- Large treatment spot and high repetition rate, useful for larger areas such as full legs or a full back.
Candela GentleMax Pro
Candela Corporation, USA
- Dual-wavelength platform combining 755nm Alexandrite and 1064nm Nd:YAG, with cooling technology that protects the epidermis milliseconds before each laser pulse.
- 755nm is generally used for lighter phototypes and finer hair; 1064nm penetrates more deeply and is absorbed less by epidermal melanin, making it the appropriate choice for darker phototypes and coarse, deep-seated hair.
- The cooling technology allows higher fluence to be delivered with epidermal protection.
- Also used at KP Dermatology for vascular lesions, with a dedicated vascular handpiece.
The Pristine Hybrid Approach
Because Dr. Prratyush More has both machines available, a treatment plan can draw on the strengths of each, matching the approach to the individual rather than the individual to the machine. Which system, or combination of systems, is used for your areas is decided at consultation and may be reviewed as your course progresses.
Areas Treated
Each area differs in hair thickness, density and hair-cycle duration, and therefore in the number of sessions likely to be required. Areas treated at Pristine Radiance, using the Candela GentleMax Pro and Alma Soprano Titanium as appropriate to the area and your skin phototype:

Suitability and Assessment
Suitability for laser hair reduction is determined at consultation, based on the following factors.
Skin Phototype
Skin is classified on the Fitzpatrick scale. Indian skin most commonly falls within phototypes III–V. Both systems in use include a 1064nm Nd:YAG wavelength, generally considered appropriate for darker phototypes.
Hair Colour & Thickness
The procedure depends on melanin in the hair shaft. Grey, white, red and very fine light-coloured hair respond poorly or not at all — a limitation of the technology itself.
Recent Sun Exposure
Recent tanning increases epidermal melanin and the risk of adverse effects. Treatment may be deferred until skin has settled.
Medical History
Including photosensitising medication, isotretinoin use, active skin infection, keloidal tendency, herpes simplex history, pregnancy and epilepsy.
Excess Facial and Body Hair — PCOS and Hirsutism
Excess hair growth in a male pattern in women — on the face, chin, chest, abdomen or inner thighs — is termed hirsutism and frequently has an underlying cause, most commonly polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), and occasionally thyroid dysfunction or other hormonal conditions.
Because Pristine Radiance operates under dermatologist supervision, patients presenting with hirsutism are assessed rather than simply booked for sessions. Where clinically indicated, investigation is advised — hormonal profile, thyroid function, ultrasound — and referral or medical management arranged alongside.
In an untreated hormonal condition, new follicles continue to be stimulated. Laser reduces the hair currently present, but ongoing hormonal drive can mean a longer course, more maintenance sessions, and results that appear less durable than in a patient without a hormonal cause. This is explained honestly at consultation.

Laser Hair Reduction: Care Instructions
Before Laser Hair Reduction Treatment
- Shave the area 12–24 hours before your session. Do not wax, thread, pluck, epilate or use hair-removal cream for at least four weeks beforehand — these remove the follicle the laser depends on.
- Avoid deliberate sun exposure and tanning for two to four weeks before your session.
- Do not apply deodorant, perfume, makeup or lotion to the area on the day.
- Inform the clinic of any new medication, recent illness, skin infection, cold sore outbreak, or possibility of pregnancy.
After Laser Hair Reduction Treatment
- Redness and mild swelling around the follicles is expected and usually settles within a few hours to two days.
- Avoid hot baths, steam, sauna, swimming pools and heavy-sweating exercise for 24–48 hours.
- Use broad-spectrum sunscreen on exposed areas and avoid deliberate sun exposure.
- Do not wax, thread or pluck between sessions — shaving is permitted and does not affect results.
- Treated hair sheds over one to three weeks; this is expected. Contact the clinic for any discomfort beyond what is expected.
How Many Sessions Are Needed?
How Many Sessions Will I Need?
A typical course is 6–8 sessions using the Candela GentleMax Pro and the Alma Soprano Titanium Special Edition, though the exact number varies from person to person based on hair type, skin type, medical history, and the treatment area. Initial sessions are usually spaced 4–6 weeks apart for the face and 6–8 weeks apart for the body; later sessions may be spaced further apart as hair growth reduces. Periodic maintenance sessions are generally required thereafter. No specific number of sessions or degree of reduction can be assured in advance.
Our Associations
Risks, Side Effects and Limitations
This information is provided so expectations are realistic. It is discussed in full at consultation, and written informed consent is obtained before treatment begins.
Expected Effects
Transient redness, perifollicular swelling and mild warmth for a few hours to two days.
Less Common Effects
Temporary darkening or lightening of the skin (particularly in darker phototypes), blistering or crusting, burns, folliculitis, activation of herpes simplex in susceptible patients, and temporary skin sensitivity.
Uncommon Effects
Long-lasting pigmentary change, scarring, and paradoxical hypertrichosis — an uncommon increase in fine hair at or near the treated area, reported more frequently on the face and neck in darker phototypes.
Limitations
The procedure produces hair reduction, not complete permanent removal. Grey, white and very fine light hair does not respond, as the treatment depends on melanin. Multiple sessions are necessary — a single session will not produce a lasting result. Response varies between individuals and between body areas in the same individual. Hormonal conditions can cause new growth despite treatment. No specific number of sessions, degree of reduction, or outcome can be assured in advance.
Not Suitable, or Requiring Deferral
Pregnancy; active skin infection or inflammation in the treatment area; recent significant sun exposure or tanning; recent isotretinoin use within the interval advised by the doctor; certain photosensitising medication; active herpes simplex in the area; uncontrolled epilepsy; a history of keloidal scarring, requiring careful assessment; certain pigmented lesions within the treatment field.
What a Consultation Involves
- History — duration and pattern of hair growth, previous hair removal methods, menstrual/hormonal history where relevant, medication, medical conditions and prior adverse reactions.
- Examination — skin phototype assessment, hair colour and calibre, and evaluation of the areas concerned.
- Investigation, where indicated — hormonal or thyroid assessment where excess hair growth suggests an underlying cause.
- Test patch — carried out where indicated, with review before a full session.
- Discussion — likely session count, intervals, expected reduction, limitations, risks and alternatives, including no treatment.
- Written informed consent, obtained before the first session.

Frequently Asked Questions About Laser Hair Reduction in Thane
Is laser hair reduction permanent?
No method achieves complete permanent removal of all hair. The procedure produces a progressive reduction in hair density, thickness and rate of growth over a course of sessions. Periodic maintenance sessions are generally required. Regulatory approvals worldwide describe the outcome as hair reduction rather than permanent removal.
How many sessions will I need?
A typical course is 6–8 sessions, though this varies with the body area, hair colour and thickness, skin phototype and hormonal status. Some patients require more. An estimate for your specific areas is given at consultation and cannot be assured in advance.
Is it suitable for Indian or darker skin?
Suitability depends on individual skin phototype and history, and is assessed at consultation. Both systems in use include a 1064nm Nd:YAG wavelength, generally considered appropriate for darker phototypes, and parameters are selected individually.
Does it hurt?
Sensation varies by individual and body area. The in-motion technique used on the Soprano Titanium is generally described as warmth, and the cooled single-pulse delivery on the GentleMax Pro as a brief snapping sensation. Discomfort is usually mild and brief.
Can I have it done if I have PCOS?
Yes, and it is frequently helpful. However, an untreated hormonal condition continues to stimulate new hair growth, so a longer course and more maintenance sessions are usually needed. Where indicated, investigation and medical management of the underlying condition is advised alongside.
Can I wax or thread between sessions?
No. Waxing, threading, plucking and epilation remove the follicle that the laser targets. Shaving is permitted and does not affect results.
Does it work on grey or white hair?
No. The procedure depends on melanin in the hair shaft, and grey, white and very fine light hair contain little or none.
Is it safe during pregnancy?
Treatment is deferred during pregnancy as a precaution.
Who performs the treatment?
All consultations, phototype assessments, parameter selection and sessions are carried out under the supervision of Dr. Prratyush More, a dermatologist registered with the Maharashtra Medical Council.
Do you treat skin conditions or hair loss here?
No. Pristine Radiance provides laser hair reduction only. Skin conditions and aesthetics are treated at KP Dermatology, and hair loss and hair transplantation at Roots Restore.
